Is English the only language in which people love to dream up creative misspellings of names in order to be "unique"?

Most languages have much more regular spelling rules (i.e. they're phonetic) and no one would know what to make of a misspelled name.

For example, I saw "Giayd" as a homophone for "Jade".

It's certainly most prevalent in English. I never saw it in 14 years living in Italy.

I don't know if it's an English language trend or just an American one, but we definitely have a lot of bizarre names and spellings over here in the States.

How could we possibly know that?  You'd have to poll the entire world to know for sure.
