If humans unlocked infinite energy in the next 50 years would it destroy us turning us into lazy zombies with no desire to do anything?

The Democrats will do that FIRST  ;)

  • It would depend upon how fast this energy could be released. You may have access to infinite  energy, but if it can only be accessed one Joule per second then it's not going  to be able to do very much.

we would  probably make a bomb with it ..

Infinity doesn't exist in the real world. It's a mathematical abstraction. I assume you mean an overabundance of usable energy. As for what humans would do, that's something that is not very predictable into the distant future.

No because governments would find ways of taxing it, so we would still need to work to pay for it .

there is no such thing as infinite energy so no

There isn't an infinite amount of energy in the universe.

Whenever we have found new sources of energy we have used it to despoil our environment.  Consider trying to walk across a freeway.  The use of fuels have forced humans into prisoners unless we join the mob.  Electricity has given us air conditioners and a comfortable environment where we live but the pollutants are still produced somewhere else.  I could go on.  But with infinite energy we could cause infinite damage and there is little chance that our society would survive the stupid damage that we could cause.

It's already happening , no matter the energy ^_-
