Does spicy food cause ulcers?

I only eat something spicy like once or twice a week. Candy, hot cheetos, food, etc. I was told that all this stuff could cause an ulcer or health problems.

Spicy food actually can help inhibit an ulcer from getting worse, and does not cause them. They can really do a number on your stomach if you have something like IBS though.

    Probably,   in the long run.

    It's possible that it can.

Spicy foods don't cause ulcers—they may actually help ulcers

Pylori (one of the world's most common causes of ulcers). Contrary to popular belief, multiple studies show that capsaicin actually inhibits acid production in the stomach.

It is highly unlikely that hot Cheetos will cause ulcers, unless you eat an inordinate amount of them. What does cause ulcers is a diet of very spicy food, such as some of the more extreme hot sauces.

No, but it can cause heartburn or dyspepsia. And having those conditions chronically can weaken your immune system & gastric flora, making you more susceptible to the bacteria which causes ulcers.

Dear god, the idea that spicy foods cause ulcers was debunked nearly 50 years ago.  You should really stop listening to the fu cking idiots who told you otherwise.  Ulcers are caused by bacteria.

Not cause ulcers but make existing ulcer more painful.
