Music is a time portal. T or F?

Sometimes when I hear a song I haven't heard for a long time it takes me back to a specific time and place, so I have a theory that muisc can be used to time travel.

Some pieces of music are time portals for some people.  In any matter of that sort there is never a simple Yes/No answer.

That’s when you’re dealing with memory. Smell acts in he same way.  A song or smell associated with an event in a time and place can activate memories.  That’s when you get that feeling of nostalgia or even deja vu.

True. Your brain can’t control it, so you just go along for the ride. Sometimes a I’ll hear a song that transports me back to my high school years. I don’t even have to like the song for that to happen.

True, music is a time portal.  In the sense that you are speaking, it is because the music evokes certain memories of the past.

Music can also serve as a time portal because the lyrics can be reflective of what was happening in the world at the time the song was written.  This would also include the creation of visual images or the telling of stories of people from the past.

Here are a few examples of where music serves as a time portal to the past:

That's as true as a troubadour. The famous studies of Michaelson and Miller determined much the same as you're referring to in their landmark study in 1998 and further studies have only served to confirm that theory.

T, in a way. It can easily make someone feel like the current time is not present time.
