what do people do with their chickens when they stop laying eggs?

They keep them for pets, just as when they laid eggs, but you don't get eggs anymore.

The majority find their way into a stew pot.

They're either kept as pets or end up in the pot.

Mine remain with the flock teaching the newer ones the rules and I let nature play out (stay till mother goose calls them home)……………….

From my experience chooks only live between 5-8 years so I would keep them as pets and let nature do its course. I had an old girl of 8yrs. she was a lovely pet around the yard, until she died of old age..

It depends. You can keep them as pets, if money is no object. If it is, a quick chop, cleaning, and a trip to the soup pot are in order.

Depends if they are pets or not...you could continue feeding them, give them away or put them in the slow cooker..
